I don't know what you're resolutions are this year or if you even made any but today is a big day. Not just because it's the first day of the new year but because we have a big event tonight at New Beginnings. For the last three years we have hosted Battle of the Bands. This is an event where local bands compete for a chance at some professional help (recording, bio, training, etc.). But if that was the whole story it wouldn't be worth mentioning here. BOTB also has a cause... With every dollar we raise at the event (pizza sales, pop sales, door cover, etc.) we donate to My Life Speaks!!
So here's my thought... How great would it be if you started the first day of your new year NOT like a lot of folks: thinking about you BUT begin praying about a way to serve others!! Begin looking for opportunities to help at the church, serve at your kids school, caring for your neighbors maybe even setting aside money so you could go with us to Haiti this fall!! The best news is there's a chance TONIGHT for you to not only have fun but support Special Needs Orphans in Haiti... Simply attending Battle of the Bands!! Even if you don't think its your 'cup of tea', come buy a couple slices of pizza or dump a few dollars in a band voting box... I promise it will go to good use.
Father, May we spend more time this year with You... May we spend more of our finances on others in need... May we love our families more and give them our best... May we take the opportunities Your Spirit gives us... May we have the courage to pray God sized prayers... May we love!!
