NB High School whats next?

Many have been asking what is next for student ministry at New Beginnings Church? Transitioning between leaders in any organization can be complicated. Some churches have made unfortunate blunders in the leadership transition process.

The pastors and Ministry Leadership Team at New Beginnings are actively involved in finding our next student ministry leader. Further, not only are we confident we avoid anticipated mistakes, we will also find a top notch leader.

Today’s blog will shed some light on the future of finding the New Beginnings student ministry a Family Pastor for High School.

  1. We can begin praying this very minute for several things:
    • We can begin praying for our next Family Pastor for High School. Moving your family is a big decision and this leader and his family must make prayerful consideration if God is calling them to move.
    • We can begin praying for New Beginnings Church. A leader is defined by the people who follow him. We should pray that we would receive this leader and his family as one of us. We can pray that he will serve with joy and longevity.
    • We can begin praying for the Ministry Leadership Team. This wise council of men has been selected by our church to make personnel decisions. They are ultimately responsible for selecting our new leader.
  2. We can all rest assured that NBFamilies and student ministry at New Beginnings will remain a very high priority. New Beginnings has always been a frontrunner in student ministry in south Tulsa. We are dedicated to remaining committed to high school students, their parents, and their families.
  3. Our first step will be to identify a short list of potential candidates compiled by people we know and trust (4-6 candidates). In ministry leadership godly character outshines experience and education every time. However, godly character is difficult to evaluate from a resume alone. So we are asking people who have firsthand knowledge or genuine relationships with top-notch candidates to submit names we can contact personally. Understandably, anyone on a list because of godly character, may or may not be interested in moving. Candidates may decline the invitation to discuss the opportunity to move to a different church. If this short list produces an obvious candidate, it is possible that we will have a new leader before the fall.
  4. If the short list of candidates doesn’t produce an obvious candidate then we will broaden and extend our search through other conventional means (seminary job postings, internet search processes, resume solicitation, etc.). As you can imagine, broadening the search this way will produce a thick stack of candidates. At that time, other decisions will be made if the search is extended beyond the fall (interim, search group, etc.).
  5. In the mean time we have a great group of adults who have volunteered to continue to work with our NB High School Students (Derek A.; Jeff F.; Tim R.; Danny D. etc.). There will be several qualified bible teachers who have agreed to rotate the large group responsibilities.
  6. Finally and most importantly, we have an absolutely outstanding group of high school students at NB High School. Many of them have recognized the need for to step up and provide leadership. I have been proud to see them respond with passion and maturity.
You may check back on Wednesdays to receive update on the search process. The best days of student ministry are in our future.
