What if your family was a family where the Gospel naturally flowed out of regular life experiences? The desire of NBFamilies is that the family experience is where the grace of God is rehearsed in the family’s daily lives. How can we learn to influence our kids faith and mold them into vibrant followers of Christ?
- Can we model and discuss our faith around the family dinner table discussion?
- Can we have faith conversations in the kitchen, the bedroom, the playroom?
- Instead of banning TV, or ignoring opportunities for instruction and flawed concept adjustment. What kind of things can we discuss about our faith while watching TV?
- How much could we learn if the many trips in the car became an opportunity to talk about faith themes like:
- Praying together as a family
- Singing a praise song together as a family (in a round for the expert musicians)
- Friends who needs our love and hope
- Hopes and dreams for the future
- Disappointments of the past
- Apologies that are made, grace that is returned and mistakes that are forgiven
How much would it please God if our faith came alive - in our kitchens, our bedrooms, around the TV, and in our backyards - in the places where we spend time together as a family?
- What if every Christian parent longed to be the kind of disciple-making family that experienced daily spiritual habits, and unforced spiritual conversations?
- A gospel centered community where grace, hope, redemption, and are understood, valued and practiced?
- A Family that regularly experiences the presence of God …?
- … Through confession and forgiveness when mistakes are made?
- … Through repentance which leads to course correction?
- … Through amazing - faith deepening - grace?
Matt Fowler, one of our family pastors (who is being ordained at 6:00pm, Sunday evening, April 14th) shared the following video on his Facebook page this week. I thought is was an excellent discussion for parents who want to become and lead their kids to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Watch this video and reread the paragraphs above.
Paul David Tripp is a pastor and speaker who works to connect the transforming power of Jesus Christ to everyday life. His driving passion is to help people understand how the gospel of Jesus Christ speaks with practical hope into all the things people face in this broken world.
Do you want a family like this?
